The Russia and Ukraine’s war is affecting many things. “For sugar, it’s linked in a sense that as you see oil prices go up, it provides incentive for countries like Brazil to shift their sugar production and divert it into ethanol production, instead of moving it globally into the sugar market,” said Rob Johansson, Director of Economics and Policy Analysis, American Sugar Alliance. Johansson attended the International Sugarbeet Institute in Grand Forks last week.
