As planting season gets closer, University of Minnesota Extension Sugarbeet Pathologist Ashok Chandra says there are a few diseases sugarbeet growers should be monitoring, including Rhizoctonia. “This disease loves sugarbeets, corn, edible beans and they all serve as a host. The problem is you lose yield in the field and when you put the beets in storage, they rot much faster.”
