Ada, Minnesota farmer Neil Rockstad says there should be enough soil moisture for a good start to spring planting, especially for sugarbeets. “Hopefully, we can get a decent start to planting in April through early May.” Rockstad says all of the major commodities grown in the north have price increases in 2022. That makes the planting season interesting. “Some years there is one crop that may take off and wheat might be dragging, but this year they’re all hanging up in price. Certainly, there’s a lot of talk in the neighborhood about planting crops that haven’t been planted in a while like sunflowers.”
