The market potential is strong for renewable diesel, but that doesn’t mean attention is shifting away from biodiesel. “Soybeans are used for both,” said Mike Skaug, president, Minnesota Soybean Growers Association. “Soybeans will have more demand than before. Renewable fuels can be put through a pipeline so that’ll have great benefits to go from Louisiana to the West Coast, whereas the biodiesel really isn’t suited to go through a pipeline.”
