China will buy 40,000 tons of pork for its central state reserves this week, in the first round of such stockpiling this year, according to the China Merchandise Reserve Management Center. China’s goal of stockpiling is to stop the market prices from excessive fall and to boost pork prices following the Lunar New Year when the market fell.
