With farmers and ranchers watching every penny after a long drought year, the Minnesota house of representatives is pushing for financial relief. Minnesota District 11 House Representative Mike Sundin says there’s been movement in the ag committee regarding drought relief. “This week in the Ag Committee, we unanimously passed some drought relief legislation. We’ve gotten ten million dollars heading to people that have been distressed from the drought situation. It encompasses large farmers right down to the farmers market type of producers. The bill is headed for the Ways and Means Committee and then onto the Governor’s desk. Representative Sundin expects the bill to go through Senate with flying colors and gain support with the governor as well. ” After the governor signs it, the ten million dollars will go out in increments not to exceed ten thousand dollars. Half of it goes into grant money and half of it goes into loans.”
