According to Northern Crops Institute Director Mark Jirik, the current logistical issues have been building for years. “When you talk about the container issue, that’s one thing. If you look at carrier issues, retirements and some of the regulations that have been pushed through in the last couple years, have curtailed things.” From the U.S. Grains Council annual meeting, Jirik told RRFN efforts are underway to address the supply chain problem. “There’s hope on the horizon, but it takes time to build ships and add capacity.”
