USDA is making transitional changes to its school nutrition standards. For the school year that begins this fall, at least 80 percent of the grains served in school lunch and breakfast programs must be rich in whole grains. Schools will also be able to serve flavored low-fat milk. USDA will be proposing long term changes to the school nutrition standards later this year.
