Most of the waterhemp in North Dakota is in the eastern portion of the state, but researchers have noticed reports of it spreading further north. NDSU Extension Weed Specialist Joe Ikley says “Waterhemp has historically in the last five plus years has been a major problem in Cass County and Richland County, but it has started to creep north up the valley all the way to Canada. It hasn’t been a major issue, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it becomes one.”
