After years of negotiations, India is now allowing U.S. pork and pork products. Access to Indian market for U.S. pork and pork products was restricted because India’s Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying, and Fisheries and the USDA did not have an agreed upon export protocol for importing pork products into India. The National Pork Producers Council has been calling on India to lift its de facto ban on U.S. pork and accept the export certification proposed earlier in 2021 by the USDA.
