Despite the drought, many yields this past year were better than expected. Golden Harvest Marketing Lead Dave Young credits the advancements with seed genetics. “Even 15 or 20 years ago, drought conditions like we had would have been a complete disaster,” said Young. “Hybrids from all companies outkicked their coverage and did a nice job this year; that’s a testament to what the breeders in the industry have been able to do.” The seed decision can be one of the most important ones of the year. That’s why it is important to spread out the risk. “Work with someone that can be a trusted advisor and can work with you and listen to you.”
