A coalition of California restaurants and grocery stores has filed a lawsuit, hoping to block the implementation of the state’s new animal welfare law. Voters approved Proposition 12 in 2018, establishing minimum requirements for animal housing. The lawsuit says these rules will make meat products more expensive or in short supply. These new regulations take effect January 1.
