The USDA’s Risk Management Agency will allow sunflower enterprise and optional units to be insured by type under the sunflower crop insurance system. The National Sunflower Association said this will strengthen coverage options and make crop insurance a better risk management tool. “We’ve been working on this for a few years with the RMA. If you’re a farmer interested in growing both kinds of sunflowers, visit with your local crop insurance agent,” said John Sandbakken, executive director, National Sunflower Association. “We’re glad this could be implemented for 2022.”
