The U.S. Department of Agriculture is taking applications for grants and loans to help rural areas get high speed internet. There’s $1.5 billion available in the USDA’s ReConnect Program. Those applying must commit to building facilities capable of providing broadband speeds at a certain level and USDA will consider the economic needs of the community to be served. Applications must be submitted through the USDA’s Rural Development’s application system online.
