National Corn Growers Association CEO Jon Doggett is looking forward to working with newly confirmed USDA Under Secretary of Farm Production and Conservation Robert Bonnie. “He understands agriculture and is coming from a different perspective. We’re not always going to agree with Bonnie, but when Joe Biden was elected, he called me. Bonnie has always been very accessible. If you take a look at what he’s done in the past, I think production agriculture has a friend there.” Doggett says the biggest thing Bonnie will be working on is climate change. “We want to know how these carbon markets work. It’s the wild west out there. Every market farmers are involved in has some kind of regulation, except the carbon market. We need side boards on this thing.”
