Shareholders of AgCountry Farm Credit Services and Farm Credit Services of North Dakota have approved a merger of the two farm credit organizations. AgCountry board chair Ed Heglund said both boards felt a merger would provide member-owners with greater long-term benefits. “Both associations are coming from a position of strength,” said Hegland. “There was no need to do this for survival or anything like that. It was just truly what’s in the best interest of our members and as the process went along, we really saw that there were some synergies that would happen.” The merged organization will operate under the AgCountry Farm Credit Services name beginning January 1 and will serve 25,000 member owners in 82 counties throughout parts of Minnesota, North Dakota and Wisconsin.
