South Dakota lawmakers reached an agreement on redistricting during a special session last week. South Dakota Farmers Union Lobbyist Mitch Richter says Rapid City and Sioux Falls are becoming more urban. “They took some of the rural districts out of those two communities and made their own rural district. At the end of the day, I think they did a good job,” says Richter. “Aberdeen will also now have two districts. Sioux Falls and Rapid City will have six and five. Then, some rural districts got larger.” Redistricting will go into effect for the 2022 elections. Take a look at the 2022 map.
