A new report from CoBank’s Knowledge Exchange says the animal protein sector needs U.S. leaders back at the negotiating table to advance more trade agreements. The nominee for USTR’s Chief Agriculture Negotiator Elaine Trevino is not confirmed yet, but CoBank says the nomination is a step in the right direction. According to this CoBank report, the Trump administration’s harder line on trade led to mixed results for U.S. agriculture, especially for animal protein and leaving the Trans-Pacific Partnership resulted in lost opportunities for U.S. exporters.
