The White House and congressional Democratic leaders have put together the framework for the budget reconciliation bill. The Build Back Better plan has a price tag of $1.8 trillion, down from the previous proposal of $3.5 trillion. For agriculture, the plan includes a $25 per acre payment for cover crops, increased funding for the Environmental Quality Incentives Program and the Conservation Stewardship Program. There’s also $960 million for rural development, research, biofuels infrastructure and a debt forgiveness program for socially-disadvantaged farmers.
