Kansas City Southern Railway had third quarter revenue of $744 million, a 13 percent improvement from one year ago. Kansas City Southern is combining with Canadian Pacific to create the first single-line rail network that links the U.S., Canada and Mexico. Meanwhile, the Canadian National Railway earned $1.7 billion in the third quarter. The profits were boosted by a $770 million breakup fee after walking away from its bid for the Kansas City Southern. CN also announced its CEO plans to retire after just three years on the job.
