The Port of Long Beach has a record 100 ships anchored and waiting to unload. Pre-COVID, there would normally be less than 20 vessels at anchor. There’s no end in sight for the supply chain crisis, but White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki did offer positive news Tuesday. “Union Pacific Railroad just announced its facility serving the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach will now operate 24/7 to help move containers out of LA and Long Beach,” said Psaki. “And the Port of Los Angeles Executive Director Gene Seroka said that we have already cut in half the amount of cargo that is sitting on the docks for 13 days or longer.”
