Widespread rains have been seen across the Northern Plains and Upper Midwest in the past week. Bayer Regional Commercial Manager Troy Sayler says this moisture will be helpful as we move into 2022, but it doesn’t take away the dry weather concerns. “Is this a drought buster? I don’t think so; we’re going to need a lot more rain and a fair amount of snowfall to recharge the soil moisture.” The crop has been under severe stress and that is influencing stalk quality. “I haven’t heard of ear drop, but stalk integrity is certainly a concern.”
