This year’s drought cut into forage supplies throughout the region. Shane Isane, who farms at Badger, Minnesota, harvested his second crop of alfalfa in late September. “That’s not normal, it would normally be in early July,” said Isane. “We’re problably looking at about a quarter of the normal yield we’d expect on our hay ground and pastures are similar.”
