If you haven’t been out to harvest corn yet, you may want to check stalk integrity this week. The National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center is forecasting a chance of stronger winds the week of October 11. “Things are getting more active from a weather stand-point. The outlooks are trending wetter,” says Dennis Todey, director, USDA Midwest Climate Hub. “As we get to the mid-part of October, we may have storm systems coming through, affecting the Upper Midwest and the Northern Plains. That usually means we have a chance for bigger low-pressure areas. That means stronger winds. This is something to keep an eye on as you go through with harvest.”
