American Crystal Sugar Company is watching the weather forecasts closely for a break in the warmer than usual early fall temperatures. Full harvest did not start on October 1, as usual. General Agronomist Joe Hastings continues to monitor root temperatures for an idea of when full harvest can begin. “The forecast looks very warm. We have to be very cautious with the temperatures. We don’t want to push it right now with a good crop coming.” American Crystal continues to operate on an extended pre-pile harvest through most of this week to keep the factories running. “We’re working through growers to put enough sugarbeets down to keep a consistent supply.”
