The new Enbridge Line 3 pipeline became fully operational on Friday. It’s taken eight years to replace an older, corroding line that was operating at half capacity. Enbridge Energy Director of Community Engagement Lorraine Little says it’s exciting to finally be at the finish line. “Our system in northern Minnesota transfers crude oil. We supply several refineries including two in the Twin Cities and others in the Great Lakes. Those products turn into gasoline, diesel and fertilizer.” Little says now that construction is complete, Enbridge will be restoring the pipeline right-of-way. “On the most northern segment of the project, we’ve completed restoration, but for the rest of the right-of-way, we have work to do. We aren’t done until land owners are satisfied, but we’re making progress.”
