In the USDA’s Small Grains Summary, U.S. all wheat production totaled 1.65 billion bushels in 2021, a 10 percent decline from 2020. The area harvested for grain is 37.2 million acres, up one percent from the previous year, with the estimated yield at 44.3 bushels per acre. USDA has the spring wheat crop category at 331 million bushels, down 44 percent from 2020. The USDA has winter wheat production up nine percent at 1.28 billion bushels. Durum wheat production for is at 37.3 million bushels, down 46 percent. U.S. barley production is estimated at 118 million bushels, down 31 percent from the revised 2020 total. Producers seeded 2.66 million acres in 2021, down two percent from 2020. Harvested area for barley is at 1.95 million acres, down 12 percent from 2020.
