Vollmer Angus Ranch of Wing is this year’s North Dakota Stockmen’s Association Environmental Stewardship Award winner. The ranch began operations in the early 1950s and started a registered Black Angus herd in 1969. The Vollmer’s were among the first in the area to implement grazing management practices, like cross-fencing and freshwater development in native pastures. As a state award winner, Vollmer Angus Ranch will next compete on the regional level with other winners from South Dakota, Nebraska and Kansas.
