The House Agriculture Committee held a hearing looking at voluntary carbon markets in agriculture and forestry last week. House Ag Committee Chairman David Scott talked about the opportunities of voluntary carbon markets. Scott also questioned the quality of some of the carbon markets and producer participation. When it comes to farmer participation, Scott recognizes a few hurdles. “The impact of our farmers not having access readily to the internet. In engaging with farmers, to what degree does that take them away from maintaining our excellent food supply?”
