Pre-pile sugarbeet harvest has been off again, on again for the Southern Minnesota Beet Sugar Cooperative. Vice President of Agriculture Todd Geselius says weather has been a big factor. “It seems like we’ve had to re-do our pre-pile schedule this year more than normal. Rain events, watching the inventory due to the hot weather. It’s been a challenging pre-pile harvest, but we’re getting through it.” Geselius continues to expect a big crop. “I think tonnage will be north of 30. We’re still trying to figure out where we’ll end up. The sugar content came down after the rains, but we’re about average when it comes to sugar content.”
