Seventeen-year-old Taylor Cattin of Kenmare, North Dakota grew up on a small farm and ranch in Wyoming until her family moved to North Dakota six years ago. Cattin joined 4-H when she was eight years old and has shown many species of livestock over the years. The North Dakota State Fair treated the veteran sheep and goat showman well. “I was the Grand Champion lamb showman for both 4-H and FFA. I also had the Grand Champion 4-H market goat.” Cattin has given up sports to focus more on her 4-H projects and FFA activities. The organizations have taught the teen a lot about responsibility. “I take care of these animals every day to make them the best that they can be. There are also speaking events in both that have helped me a lot, too.” The Parade of Champions radio series highlights the hard work of 4–H and FFA youth across the region. Listen to Cattin’s story.
