Grain traders are assessing hurricane damage reports from the Port of New Orleans. CHS Hedging market analyst Brian Rydlund says one CHS facility escaped major damage. “The timing of these events are never good, but it seems like the recovery will be quick. I’m hoping that’s the same for everyone.” With harvest approaching, Rydlund says traders will also assess crop damage from the remains of Hurricane Ida as the storm moves inland. “The storm has taken a northeast track. This will bring moisture to the Delta and Eastern Corn Belt. They probably don’t need the rain, because they’re trying to start harvest.”
