Right at the crossroads of Highways 2 and 3 in Rugby is the First International Bank. Tanner Johnson is the president of the bank. Crop conditions vary in the area. “In a 40-to-50 mile radius around Rugby, you go from maybe a potential 40 bushel wheat crop because it found some moisture to maybe a couple bushels because of emergence or it burned off.” Most farmers have crop insurance, but there are many unknowns. “Right now, we just don’t know how that will work and how RMA is going to help us out. We’d like them to work with the farmers so the farmers can work with ranchers (to get forage) and release it. Ranchers are culling their cattle herds aggressively in the region due to the lack of grass or hay.
