Dry conditions continue to expand across Minnesota and South Dakota. According to the latest U.S. Drought Monitor, severe drought conditions are expanding in the northwestern part of Minnesota, across portions of Polk, Pennington, Red Lake, Norman, Mahnomen, Clearwater and Hubbard counties. In South Dakota, extreme drought conditions now include the north central part of the state and portions of the southeast. Severe drought conditions are moving east in South Dakota as well, now covering Kingsbury and portions of Brookings counties. North Dakota’s drought had a slight decline from the previous week, but all of the state is dry, with the majority in extreme or exceptional drought.
