Dry conditions continue to expand across much of the Northern Plains. According to the latest U.S. Drought Monitor, in Minnesota, severe drought is expanding slightly, now including Polk and Norman counties. For South Dakota, moderate to extreme drought categories are expanding. There is a portion of northeast South Dakota, stretching from Kent to Beadle Counties over into Brookings County that when from abnormally dry to moderately dry. In North Dakota, the drought is mostly unchanged across the state, with a slight improvement in the severe drought category in the previous week.
