The crop has faced extreme heat, frost, wind and dry conditions this season. Conditions vary widely, even within the same field. With a good rain, BASF Technical Service Representative Dan Mellas says there is still potential for a good spring wheat crop. “At that point, we’ll want to start looking at a fungicide application for head scab and DON problems.” Caramba is a fungicide option for Fusarium Head Blight and should be applied at the beginning of flowering. “BASF will also have a new product next year that we’re looking for some really great things from in the wheat market so stay tuned.”
