A merger is being considered between AgCountry Farm Credit Services and Farm Credit Services of North Dakota. A memorandum of understanding has been signed by both boards to consider this merger. AgCountry Board Chair Ed Hegland said due diligence is being undertaken before a proposed merger would take effect. “We need to be approved by AgriBank, the Farm Credit Administration and the stockholders; the very earliest we are looking at (for the merger) is January 1, 2022.” Hegland says a merger like this can increase efficiencies and diversify the portfolio. AgCountry, based in Fargo, serves eastern North Dakota, western Minnesota and central Wisconsin. Minot-based Farm Credit Services of North Dakota is in northwest and north-central North Dakota.
