To get its merger approved, the Canadian National Railway and Kansas City Southern are proposing to divest the track overlap between Baton Rouge and New Orleans. The two railroad companies have filed for the approval of a voting trust to operate the merged company until the deal is finalized. The common rail routes have been a hurdle in CN’s bid to take over KCS.
