After more than 30 years on the job, Bayer’s sales lead for North Dakota and northern Minnesota, Mark Haugland, is retiring today. It’s been a great run. “I started with a company called Nor-am Chemical and I went through five different mergers, integrations, buyouts and that sort of thing and have been with Bayer since 2002.” Haugland has had a front-row seat as agriculture embraced biotechnology, digital tools and other innovations. Haugland says he has been blessed to work with high-tech, progressive farmers throughout his career. “They embrace technology; they embrace innovation and they are so willing to advance what they’re doing,” said Haugland. “In my mind, they are the best farmers in the world to work with.” Troy Sayler, who is now the regional commercial manager for WestBred Wheat, will be Bayer’s new lead in this territory.
