As weed management begins, farmers may struggle to get the exact herbicides they want due to product shortages. In Ulen, Minnesota, West Central Ag Services Crop Protection Seed Manager Rick Walker says there are still herbicides available for farmers, but shortages of glyphosate and glufosinate are possible in the weeks ahead. “There’s really not an alternative product for them.” Huskie is also getting tricky to find. The supply chain issues impacting chemical availability include production delays, cardboard and plastic shortages and trucking challenges. “In the last two weeks, stuff that generally takes three to five days to move takes an upward of two to three weeks.” Walker says the price of chemical increased three to five percent from last year.
