Minnesota lawmakers have one week to go before the legislative session is scheduled to adjourn. It’s also the second week of conference committee work. The Conference Committee on Omnibus Ag/Broadband Finance met four times last week and will meet again today. Minnesota House Agriculture Committee Chairman Mike Sundin says the preliminary work is going well and a budget target would help move things along. “We’ll digest the details when we get them and then, we’ll knock a few more bills off the table, agree to them and move onto the bigger stuff.” The work on bigger items shouldn’t take much time. “So much of the agriculture budget is on auto pilot. That’s money for the university, AURI and the other institutionalized programs that do hands-on work for the agriculture department. The House and Senate will come together and reach an agreement.”
