According to Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilasck, EPA Administrator Michael Regan talked about the importance of biofuels in a Cabinet meeting on climate last week. “Regan recognized the research is clear biofuels are better in terms of greenhouse gas emissions than regular petroleum. He was interested in making sure everyone on the call understood biofuels had a reason to be at the table in the climate discussion. I was impressed with that. He didn’t have to say that in the context of the question, but he did, because he recognized the importance.” Vilsack said he is hopeful the EPA will support the Renewable Fuel Standard and stop issuing unnecessary small refinery exemptions.
