Corteva Agriscience has a carbon credit program. Carbon and Ecosystem Services Portfolio Leader Ben Gordon says farmers adopt no-till, strip-till or cover cropping farming practices, use the Granular Insights software tool to collect the data and then, credits are generated and farmers are paid. “We always say start with the agronomy and make sure the practice works first and then, let’s talk carbon programs,” says Gordon. “We are guaranteeing the purchase of credits. We’ll find the buyer for you, clear payment terms and you have the option at two years to opt out of a contract with us and then, sell carbon credits to anyone in the marketplace we use.” Right now, Corteva’s program is only available for farmers in Iowa, Illinois and Indiana. In 2022, Gordon is hopeful the program will be available in the Northern Plains. Read more.
