Renewable Fuels Association CEO Geoff Cooper does not think there’s been enough attention paid to biofuels in the conversations surrounding infrastructure or climate policy. “We’ve been talking with House and Senate agriculture committees and encouraging them that we’re picking low hanging fruit. If the goal is to reduce carbon emissions from transportation, there’s a solution available now that can be deployed at a very low cost in comparison to other ideas floating about,” says Cooper. “We’re not against or opposed to policies being proposed surrounding electric, but it will take awhile to get there.” Cooper also thinks more can be done in the short-term to reduce carbon impacts of liquid fuels.
