President Joe Biden plans to nominate Robert Bonnie as the Under Secretary for Farm Production and Conservation. Bonnie is the current USDA Deputy Chief of Staff and Senior Climate Advisor. Bonnie was a senior advisor to Agriculture Secretary Vilsack during President Obama’s first term and was later appointed as the Under Secretary for Natural Resources and Environment overseeing farm bill conservation programs. In a statement, Vilsack said Bonnie is one of the nation’s foremost authorities and leaders on working lands approaches to conservation and incentive-based climate and conservation practices for farmers, ranchers and landowners.
