The North Dakota Legislature passed a bonding bill that includes $50 million for the North Dakota State University Ag Products Development Center and the Northern Crops Institute project. North Dakota Corn Growers Association secretary/treasurer Drew Courtney, who farms at Oakes, says this is a win for agriculture. At the same time, the organization is disappointed the bonding bill did not include $30 million for roads and bridges. “We were hoping to get help to fix the roads. We’ve been speaking with lawmakers that are assuring us some money will get added back in, but we’re not sure how much.” Courtney says the association plans to keep pushing for as much money as possible for the infrastructure needs. “In this game of musical chairs, when music stops we don’t want to be left without a chair.”
