President Biden’s $2.25 trillion American Jobs Plan is getting mixed feedback in the agriculture sector. Farm groups like the National Council of Farmer Cooperatives is pleased the proposal offers solutions for roads, bridges and improving rural broadband. President and CEO Chuck Conner says it’s essentially a blueprint. “This proposal is large and will have a number of provisions included in it relative to climate. As we get more details on what’s in the bill, we hope the provisions will give us an ability to begin to implement some of the recommendations we’ve sent to Congress.” At issue is how to pay for the proposal. “Another $2 trillion on top of the money being spent on COVID is a lot. The very notion of how to pay for it would determine whether or not there is a bill.”
