COVID guidance restrictions from the Biden administration may limit how local Farm Service Agency offices operate in the near-term. Pro Farmer Political Analyst Jim Wiesemeyer says USDA is requiring all farm production and conservation facilities to maintain staffing at 25 percent or less. “There are county offices saying they can’t even keep up and now, there are more staff restrictions. USDA will have to extend program sign-ups across the board.” Wiesemeyer also says the Biden administration is moving quickly on priorities and this will be a very proactive USDA. “Vilsack keeps saying it’s a changed USDA, this is a changed Washington and he’s a changed person from the last time he was in town. I think that says a lot.”
