The Environmental Working Group is calling on Congress and the White House to change the way farm program benefits are distributed. The activist group says the majority of commodity and ad hoc payments are going to the largest and wealthiest farms. The Market Facilitation Program was given as an example with 10 percent of program recipients receiving nearly 60 percent of the payments. In this new report, the EWG calls for means testing to prevent most of the payments from going to the largest farms.
