Senate Agriculture Committee Ranking Member John Boozman learned a lot about the agriculture supply chain since last March. “The supply chain didn’t break, but it bent. That’s one of the things we need to do, look back and see what the situation was and how we can make it better in the future. Right now, we have on-time delivery. Back in the old days, we used to have warehouses to store commodities. Now, the new warehouses are trucks on the road.” Boozman says improving rural infrastructure is also a priority for lawmakers as a result of COVID. “We simply aren’t going to move forward if we don’t have broadband. Lots of dollars are being spent in that regard.” Boozman was part of the National Farmers Union annual convention.
